Poultry Rules

  • The rules listed on the General Rules section of these rules, in addition to the following rules, will apply to the Poultry Show.
  • All poultry (other than meat pen stock) must be under the daily care and supervision of the project member from April 21, 2025 to show day. Meat pens of poultry must be under the care and supervision of the project member between May 22 – June 5, 2025. Poultry meat pen birds should be 6-8 weeks of age.
  • Grand & Reserve Poultry MEAT PENS MUST sell at the livestock auction. Remaining meat pens earning a BLUE RIBBON ONLY have the option to  sell, but only ONE per exhibitor.
  • Only class P10 sell at the Livestock Auction.
  • Animal used for SHOWMANSHIP is the exhibitor’s choice.
  • All substitutions must be made directly to the superintendent.
  • All animals must be entered, exhibited, handled and shown by the project member unless specific arrangements have been made with the superintendent.
  • Exhibitors must provide their own water and food dishes.
  • Exhibitors must provide adequate wire cages on the day of the show.
  • All exhibited animals must be free of any visible signs of infection, contagious disease or parasites. Exhibitors may be asked to remove any project animal not in good health. Dismissal will be at the discretion of the superintendent or judge.
  • All birds (other than meat pens) will have to pass the blood test prior to the show (completed at show).
  • Exhibitors are limited to enter only TWO meat pens. The poultry must be a broiler type bird. There must be three birds in this pen. All three birds must be of the same sex & breed and the birds should be 6-8 weeks old.
