Exciting Changes in Youth Arts for 2026!! 

 

• Registration and Judging of Projects

4-H’ers will no longer register their projects/exhibits for the fair by the levels Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced.  They will register under the project title (ex: Cake Decorating) and will be judged based upon their 4-H age: 

5-7 years old – Clover Kids

8-10 years old – Junior Division

11-13 years old – Intermediate Division

14-18 years old – Senior Division

**If a 4-H’er is in their first or second year of a project, they can denote that they are a “beginner” regardless of age.

 

• Foods Projects

In an effort to get more variety in the types of foods being prepared for judging, 4-H’ers may create a scrapbook-style display of their food to be displayed throughout the Boone County Fair.  This will allow 4-H’ers to present items such as casseroles or cream-style pies that were previously not allowed.  4-H’ers must still bring a tasting portion for their judge.  The display page should be no larger than 12”x12” (standard scrapbook paper size) and placed in a page protector/protective sheet.  The following information needs to be included:

**the name of the food being displayed

**a picture (or two) of the prepared food (PREPARED BY THE 4-H’er)

**an ingredient list

**This only applies to the following projects: Foods, Food Science, and International 

Foods.  All other projects are still required to bring in their exhibit for display at 

the fair.

**4-H’ers are not required to exhibit their food projects in this way!

 

• Posters

4-H’ers now have the option of creating a digital poster!  Since so few posters are eligible for exhibition at the State Fair, we are trying to come up with additional ways for them to be exhibited at the Boone County Fair.

**4-H’ers may complete a Google Slides presentation over their chosen project.  

4-H’ers are not required to create a digital poster!

**The presentation should contain all of the same information that would be 

included on a traditional poster – pictures and facts.

**The presentation should have a maximum of five slides. 

**Digital posters must be shared with: bocoyoutharts@gmail.com prior to project 

registration on Sunday, July 19th, 2026.  

**They will be judged at the conclusion of project entry on Sunday, July 19th, 

2026.

**Digital posters will be displayed throughout the fair!
