Meat Goat Show Rules

    1. Rules listed in the General Rules section in addition to the following rules will apply to the Goat Show.
    2. All market goats must be owned and under the care of the Boone County 4-H/FFA member enrolled in the project by Wednesday May 6, 2026. All breeding goats must be owned by July 1, 2026.
    3. Market goats/breeding stock goats may be of any meat breed or crossbred.
    4. All Boone County market class goats must attend a mandatory weigh-in and nose printing on Wednesday May 6, 2026 from 5-6:30 PM at the Boone County Fairgrounds Show Palace. Males must be castrated prior to weigh-in. Both weigh-ins will be conducted with superintendent/fair board member and at least one other volunteer present and monitoring weights at the scale.
    1. Wethers & does are allowed to be shown in the market
    2. Goats in the market class must be born after July 31, 2025.
    3. Market goats must weigh a minimum of 60 pounds to be eligible to sell at the Youth  Livestock Auction.
    4. All market goats must be Scrapie tagged or tattooed for identification.
    5. Market animals need to be Scrapie tagged or tattooed at time of May weigh-in.
    6. Slick shearing is required for market goats, prior to the fair weigh-in. Hair above knees and hocks must be ¼” or
    7. An exhibitor may show a total of 10 market goats but only two entries per breeding class will be allowed.
    8. All 4-H and FFA members in Missouri are eligible to show goats in all classes except the Home Raised Meat Goat Class. Only Boone County exhibitors may show in the Home Raised Class. Goats must be shown in a market class to be eligible for the Home Raised class. The definition of Home Raised can be found in the Boone County Fair General Rules.
    9. When a judge is handling goats or when you are waiting to be judged, all four (4) feet must be on the ground. It is acceptable to briefly lift the front end of a goat off the ground to set the front feet.

G1—Junior doe kid, born 4/1/26 thru 6/1/26

G2—Intermediate doe kid, born 3/1/26 thru 3/31/26

G3—Senior doe kid, born 1/1/26 thru 2/28/26

G4—Junior Yearling Doe, Born 6/1/25 thru 12/31/25

G5 – Senior Yearling Doe, born 7/20/24 through 5/31/25

G6 – Two-Year-Old Doe

G7 – Three-Year-Old & Up Doe

G8 – Junior buck kid, born 4/1/26 thru 6/1/26

G9 – Intermediate buck kid, born 3/1/26 thru 3/31/26

G10 – Senior buck kid, born 1/1/26 thru 2/28/26

G11 – Junior Yearling Buck, born 6/1/25 thru 12/31/25

G12 – Senior Yearling Buck, born 7/20/24 thru 5/31/25

G13 – Two-Year-Old Buck

G14 – Three-Year-old & Up Buck
